Since early September 2026, sustained heavy rainfall has pushed the Ganga, Gandak, Kosi and other rivers above danger levels across Bihar. Many families, especially those living in low-lying and riverine communities, continue to face shortages of food, clean drinking water and safe, dry shelter.
